Anton Meana of Cadena SER says that both Real Madrid and Atletico de Madrid have tried to sign Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City. Jesus’s agents have talked to both teams and told them that the player wants a €5 million-a-year deal.
A report says that Atletico de Madrid doesn’t want to sign Gabriel Jesus, but that Real Madrid would be interested in the Brazilian striker. Gabriel Jesus, on the other hand, is not from the EU, which would make things very hard for Los Blancos. Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Militao are still non-EU players. Even though Vinicius is about to get his Spanish passport, Gabriel Jesus could not be registered as a Real Madrid player until that happens, because clubs can only have three non-EU players on their rosters.
Gabriel Jesus is a good enough player that Real Madrid could use him to replace Karim Benzema when necessary. His contract is up in 2023, so he wouldn’t cost much to sign. Also, he’s still only 25, so if Benzema gets old or retires, he could be Madrid’s starting striker until Los Blancos find another world-class striker.
