UEFA ends partnership with Russia’s Gazprom

UEFA decided on Monday to end its partnership” with immediate effect ” with Russia’s Gazprom due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The contract was valued at 40 million euros a year, according to media experts, and covered the costs of the UEFA Champions League and international competitions, as well as the Euro Cup, which Germany will host in 2024.

Gazprom has been one of UEFA’s main sponsors since 2012.

UEFA said in a statement that the decision was “with immediate effect” to end the partnership, which was supposed to run until 2024.
