UEFA to increase the number of participants to 32 in the EURO

According to the BBC, UEFA plans to raise the number of participants in the European Football Championship final from 24 to 32. In the qualifying round, 55 teams compete.

The transition will take place in 2028. Euro 2028 will most likely be hosted jointly in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Maheta Molango, the president of the Professional Football Association of England, has already spoken out against the proposed reforms, claiming that they will lower soccer’s quality.

The number of teams competing in the European championships was expanded from 16 to 24 in 2016.
