Watford announced the release of Italian coach Claudio Ranieri on Monday.

The Hornets' Board recognises Claudio as a man of great integrity and honour, who will always be respected here at Vicarage Road for his efforts in leading the team with dignity.
Ranieri was appointed by Watford on 4 October 2021. The club’s management thanked the 70-year-old experienced coach, saying he would “always be respected for his efforts in leading the team”.The club’s statement said: “The club’s board feels that with nearly half the season remaining at the end of the league, the change will now give the next coach enough time to work with the team to achieve the immediate goal of staying in the Premier League.”
Watford concluded: “No other comment will be made from the club until the new appointment is confirmed in due course.” Watford are in 19th place with 14 points, with only four wins in 20 games, against 14 losses and 2 draws. Ranieri has led Watford in 14 games achieving only two wins, one draw and 11 losses.
