Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva led their team, Chelsea, to victory in the PremierLeague after missing four games, with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the London derby in the 23rd stage on Sunday.
Tottenham lost the first game in the league since Italian coach Antonio Conte took over in early November. Ziyech, who is excluded from his country’s national team, who is participating in the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon for disciplinary reasons, opened the scoring with a superb shot from outside the area in the 47th minute, while Brazilian defender Thiago Silva scored the second (55). Chelsea recently suffered in the league after failing to achieve any victory in the last four games, with a loss against leaders Manchester City and three draws, most recently in the previous stage against hosts Brighton (1-1).
These results led to a drop to third place, 10 points away from Manchester City although they played a less game, and a point less than the Reds Liverpool, who have two fewer games than their London peers. Chelsea will miss the Premiers League matches until mid-February due to the winter break and then their participation in the Club World Cup at the Emirates.
